Soft Tissue Sarcoma
Soft tissue sarcomas are a group of rare cancers that develop in muscles, fat, blood vessels, nerves, and other connective tissues. They can occur anywhere in the body but are mostly found in the arms, legs, head, neck, or abdomen. Common symptoms include a painless lump or swelling, though some tumors cause pain or functional problems.
These tumors affect both children and adolescents, with subtypes varying in behavior and response to treatment. Care is tailored to the tumor type and stage, and typically involves a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. While advances in therapy have improved outcomes, sarcomas that have spread or do not respond to standard approaches remain challenging to treat.
