COG’s Work in Soft Tissue Sarcoma

COG’s Soft Tissue Sarcoma Committee leads national and international clinical trials to improve outcomes for children with these cancers. Collaboration across institutions enables rapid progress and ensures that patients have access to the most advanced therapies available.

Our goal is to increase cure rates while reducing long term side effects. Current studies apply tailored therapies based on tumor biology and risk factors. This specification allows patients with low-risk cancers to receive less-intensive treatments and uncovers new options for high-risk patients. We are evaluating treatments for tumors that do not respond to standard treatments

The Committee’s work extends beyond treatment, supporting research into survivorship, with the goal of improving long-term health and quality of life.

I wanted to contribute to this study because there are so few of us who have had rhabdomyosarcoma and this unites all of us survivors to help others. One day there might be a kid who is really similar to me and that would be cool if doctors could use my information to help treat them.
